Are we ready to implore Him to be cleansed ?

"a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” [Luke 5: 12-16]

When we read the caption, the first thought comes to mind may be that why should I be cleansed anyway. We are sure that we don't have any problems at all, then what or why to be cleansed. Or why should be compared with a leper. Are we sure that we don't have leprosy of any kind ? I strongly doubt. We may be looking fair from outside, but what about our inside.

Are we pure in our mind: when we meet others; when we talk with others; when we see the needy; when we see the sick; when we see a stranger etc. If not, we may be affected by leprosy in our mind. All of us are happy if we can clean any dirt on our body which will be seen by others. But we don't care to clean the inside as we think it's not seen by anyone. But remember, God is seeing us inside out. We don't usually touch or even go near a leper due to the fear of the contagious disease. Are people around us fear to approach us. Do others think we are not the right person to contact. Do they fear our 'good' nature will put them in trouble. If we are not approachable or touchable by the needy, then  we are also affected by some sort of leprosy.

Don't we wish to be cleansed from this 'leprosy' ? If yes, implore Him and believe He can make us clean. No need for us to doubt whether He is willing to clean us. He said 'I am willing'. He will put out His hand and touch us and say 'be cleansed'. If leprosy can be cleansed in just a moment, can't we assume that we will be also cleansed from all our drawbacks in the same moment as we implore Him.

Second Week of Great Lent: Implore Him to be cleansed.
